PSK = Porn Star Karaoke
I think it’s funny very few people remember the origins of Porn Star Karaoke. It started back in July of 2003 when a group of porn stars that lived near Sardo’s started gathering there for occasional drinks. The originators were Wankus from the now long defunct KSEX Radio, his then-girlfriend Daisy (who was my ‘co-ho’ on Kylie Live on KSEX in the beginning) and Aria (who to my knowledge is retired from the business, is a successful bodybuilder and I believe is still dating porn stud Lee Stone)…being that all of these were KSEX Radio PJ’s (Porn Jockeys), with Wankus running the internet radio station they talked about it on the air constantly and soon it became a regular event. The owners of the video company DVSX were friends of Wankus and the gang so naturally PSK became sponsored by DVSX.
I don’t think that Seymore, the owner of Sardo’s, ever could have imagined what it would become. PSK has been a weekly event, happening every Tuesday ever since. One will usually find Nightcalls host Nicki Hunter playing the role of mistress of ceremonies; she has been hosting PSK for several years. It’s now usually sponsored by a different company every week and has become a PR mecca for showcasing hot new porn movie releases, like this previous week’s star studded Wicked Pictures bash for Rocki Whore Picture Show. And every week, it’s jam-packed with porn stars and fans getting hammered and singing their fool heads off.
Oddly enough this KSEX Radio originated event is now frequented and occasionally sponsored by Playboy and Spice Radio, (which is appropriate and ironic since many of Playboy/Spice’s current radio hosts cut their teeth on KSEX Radio’s internet broadcasts…including, but not limited to, Ginger Lynn, Nicki Hunter, Taylor Wane, and technically, myself (although my degree was in Broadcast Journalism so I did have previous experience).
Flash forward to now. Julia Ann is a frequent guest on my radio show as well as other shows on Playboy and Spice; she also frequents PSK. Somehow every time she comes on my show she ends up singing “her song” by Santana, Winning. Frequently listeners of my weekend radio show are often treated (?) to my horrendous singing as well, often to the Waylon Jennings’ Good Ol’ Boys, aka the Dukes of Hazzard Theme. Don’t ask. With some serious (or rather Sirius) badgering from my ‘producer’ Mike and Julia Ann I found myself committing to PSK.
Although there were promises abound from Julia to serenade us with Winning as well as threats of dragging my ass up to belt out a howling rendition of the Dukes of Hazzard Theme with producer Mike…neither came to fruition. Not that I wouldn’t have, I don’t turn down dares and I am usually game to make a complete ass of myself in front people. Don’t get me wrong, there was singing. Our booth consisted of Julia Ann, John Strong, Dawn Tulman (sexy blonde co-host of Porn Star Pundits on www.newdissidentradio.com), Producer Mike, Andy Appleton and myself, with various stars coming and going throughout the evening. We burst into some pretty ear crushing tunes, fortunately not on the microphone, to Garth Brooks; Friends in Low Places (which Andy and Russian porn stud John Strong had never heard before!), Billy Joel’s Piano Man, Journey; Faithfully and even some Neil Diamond.
