Cowboys & Engines is an amazingproject I am involved in right now. While I will let the info below speak for itself I will tell you that the people working on the project are not only all close friends of mine, but some of the most talented people I have ever known. We are all intensely passionate about this project and highly motivated.
Our role on this project (Andy Appleton and myself) is mainly Art Direction, although I have been a part of this project since the very first spark of an idea.
Because films are not made by talent and wishes alone, we are asking you to be involved. Cowboys & Engines is an ambitious steampunk adventure that follows Cade Ballard (Jeff Cannata), the war-weary former ambassador from the nation of Texas as he meets Guinivere Wheeler (Libby Letlow), a woman who proves to be as dangerous as she is charming. When they encounter Professor Nicholas Timéon (Walter Koenig), and learn that his temporal engine, a machine with incredible destructive power, has been stolen by would-be conqueror Dr. Clay, Cade and Guinivere set off to save San Francisco from total destruction.
This film is a labor of love, and an attempt to create something completely original and visually stunning. The movie will be something we can all be proud of; a fun, exciting ride that never becomes silly or tongue-in-cheek. The script is extremely tight, with sharp dialogue and great characters. The cast is first-rate, and though the creative professionals behind the camera might not be household names, they’re a respected team capable of working miracles.
Hollywood has failed miserably in its attempts to bring steampunk to the screen; we’re going to do it right. Cowboys & Engines is a festival piece that will redefine steampunk for the world at large as a way of re-imagining fantasy adventure.
I notice a lot of searching going on on my blog…now, I wholly encourage searching my blog because you will find some amazing, fascinating, amusing and sexy things. However, my concern is that a lot of people are searching for information on where to listen to the current radio show – The Wednesday Night 3way with me, Raylene and Derrick Pierce – and are somehow ending up on older pages of the blog, therefore getting outdated information on how to listen to the radio show!
I no longer have a radio show on Sirius/XM – Playboy/Spice Radio. They made some changes in programming and their new phone sex style wasn’t my style so I have moved on. Star Wars XXX took home SIX AVN Awards this past Saturday night. It is amazing to be part of a project like this and even better to get recognition for your hard work. However, on a more personal level the absolute best part of the AVN Awards this year was that we won the award that Andy and I coveted the most: Best Art Direction.
If you follow my blog and/or if you ‘search’ Star Wars XXX on my blog you will find all the entries from when we were working on this movie….a period of time spanning more than 2 months. (Please see the video at the end of this blog for a look at the beginning to end process of making Star Wars XXX.) This kind of preproduction is nearly unheard of in the adult industry. Because making a movie in any capacity is a team effort and if it wasn’t for the people listed below we could have never recreated the look after the original Star Wars…
Since you don’t get to go on stage to accept the award for Best Set Direction, here is my acceptance speech:
I want to say a very special and heartfelt thank you to:
Axel Braun – The Director, the Mad professor… the ‘attention to detail specialist’…
Shylar Cobi – The boss, the guy who tells us what to do, how much cash we have (or don’t have) & the guy who tells us when we have ‘NAILED IT’
Eli Cross – The advisor, the expert in all things Star Wars and geek, the guy who points us in the right direction & tells us when we have fucked up & to do it again… but better…
Nic Danger – The man who lights up our world… and our sets!
Our Crew – the people who solve problems, build stuff & make us shine (and they are:) Brian Streetteam, Beto, Angel Vain, Eric, Joe, Dizzy Cash, Belial, My Friend Janice & ProVillain. We could have never done it without all of you!
Vivid Video – for not only funding the entire affair, but for their endless support and allowing us to park the Landspeeder in their parking lot next to Steve Hirsch’s car for 10 months.
The Crew – be it make-up, hair, costuming, sound engineering, special effects, production assistants and the cast…it’s all of you who worked just as hard doing your part in the movie as a whole, which in turn made our sets even more awesome. You also lifted our spirits, lent a helping hand (or a hug) when needed and cracked a lot of jokes.
But most importantly I want to thank Andy Appleton. Despite the fact that I swear he thinks I am completely insane for doing art direction, he still was there by my side every single day for ridiculously long hours. His work ethic matches mine and he has the ability to talk me down off the ledge when necessary. His smiles, hugs and endless love are the best support I could have ever dreamed of. Despite the hard work and the many arguments (he always thinks his way is the right way – it’s not) we got through it, solved the insolvable and created something that not only are we incredibly proud of but something that turned work mates into friends and those friends into family. Something very special happened on the set of this movie and the awards we received all kinda seem secondary to the moments we created off camera…

Yes, I will be in Vegas, roaming around, attending parties, the awards show and generally getting into trouble…
In addition, this year you do have the opportunity to meet me in person, get a photo and/or an autograph and help support our industry in its fight against the extremely retarded and unfair Measure B. I will be appearing from 1-3pm on Friday January 18that the Free Speech Coalition Booth which can be found at The Hard Rock Hotel, in the MUSE Hall at Booth #825.

It is awards show season and so far several of the projects we have been working on have done very well! Star Wars XXX has won in Comedy and Parody categories for both xCritic and xBiz, Axel Braun has won for directing, and Star Wars XXX got an award for Best Special Effects. Allie Haze and Seth Gamble have taken home trophies for acting in Star Wars XXX, as well as Brendon Miller for his role as The Joker in Dark Knight XXX. Brandi Aniston, Eve Laurence and Dick Chibbles got Best Sex Scene in a Parody (deservedly so…all that Wookie fur!).

Which brings us to the AVN Awards. This is the 30th Anniversary of the AVN Awards, the – if you will – Oscars of Porn. This week nearly everyone in the adult industry gathers in fabulous Las Vegas for the Adult Entertainment Expo (AEE) and on Saturday evening, the AVN Awards.
We are all excited and hopeful that the projects we all worked so hard on will win. Thank you to AVN Magazine and all the reviewers/voters for all the wonderful nominations, it is awesome to have projects we have put so much time and energy into be recognized.

A few thoughts from my previous blog about the xBiz Awards:
I want to thank everyone who worked so hard with us on these (and many other) projects. An award-winning movie does not just happen. It is a culmination of months of planning, a company that believes in the project enough to back it, good casting and a core team of people working together in harmony (most of the time) with a common goal of creating the best possible product. All to often the praise goes to those that are in the public eye and those on the crew get overlooked or forgotten, especially in the adult business where there are no awards categories for some of the people who put in the longest hours. Lighting technicians, sound engineers, production managers and production assistants are included in this list. In more recent years categories honoring other facets in the production end of adult movies have been added; Makeup and Hair, Editing, Screenplay, Special Effects, Publicity and Set Design to name a few.
I guess what I am trying to say is that when a movie wins an award, even when a project gets nominated, it is an honor to be shared by the entire cast and crew, pre and post production…for each person is an intricate cog in the machine of movie magic. Even if the project is a porn movie.

If I went through the entire nominations categories and listed my congratulations and wishes for good luck for every person and company I know, am friends with, have worked with over the years or that I believe deserves the nomination or win…well, I would be writing this blog until next Thursday.
The other day i found a HUGE box of VHS tapes that contained all kinds of CRAZY stuff that i have been involved with over the years, everything from Howard Stern to Judge Judy. So, just for fun & some extra content for you all (like i need more content right!?!), i am currently in the process of transferring it over to my newly designed website at http://www.kylieireland.com …Including this little gem from 1996 for SXTV!
