My next art show hits Miami

Miami, Florida – The art show that has established its name by curating cuttingedge contemporary art from around the world proudly returns to Miami for its eleventh year. Cementing its future with an 80,000 square foot pavilion across the street from Art Miami, SCOPE Miami’s high-profile venue is centrally located in the heart of the Wynwood Arts District. Running concurrently with Art Basel Miami, SCOPE’s Midtown Miami home is just steps from The Rubell family collection, Margulies Collection at the Warehouse and Goldman Collection. The fair opens to Press and VIPs on Tuesday, November 29 with the FirstView benefit.

This year’s Miami edition of the fair, November 29-December 4, 2011, will present 80 international galleries upholding SCOPE’s unique tradition of solo and thematic group shows presented alongside museum-quality programming, collector tours, screenings, and special events. The unique SCOPE experience expands this year in partnership with local and international cultural organizations, featuring: film, music, installation and performance. “This season we want to highlight SCOPE’s lead role as creative R+D for a wider audience of taste makers who make art their business,” says SCOPE President & Founder Alexis Hubshman. “Introducing artists, curators, and cutting-edge galleries to new international audiences has made SCOPE the most comprehensive destination for the emerging art world.”

In over thirty five fairs spanning the past ten years, SCOPE has solidified its position as the premier show-case for international emerging contemporary art.

With art fairs in Miami, Basel, New York, London and the Hamptons, SCOPE Art Show has garnered critical acclaim, with sales of over $100 million and attendance of over 350,000 visitors.

How can I get my wife/girlfriend to_____?

ATTENTION MEN!!! Read this:

I LOVE than men are always asking me how to get their wives/girlfriends to do stuff…like I have the special answer or the key to this mystery.

All women are different – haven’t you realized this by now? – some are adventurous, some not, some dirty, some haven’t discovered they are dirty yet. Some are going to prefer standard missionary for the rest of their lives. Some have damage from former boyfriends, husbands, parents, etc that you don’t know about…that SHE might not even realize. There are also things you haven’t probably even thought about; like hormone imbalances and other medical issues (they do exist). Bottom line: She is YOUR wife. You are supposed to know her better than anyone else, so how am *I* supposed to know the magic words to get her to take it up the ass, have a 3-some or dominate you??? I don’t know the situation, the history… I don’t know either one of you!

DISCLAIMER: you need to remember that you are asking ME, I am a porn star of 17 years, and I have a sex-based radio show. I am OBVIOUSLY more open-minded and in-touch with my sexuality than the average woman. I am not a trained sex therapist, nurse, etc… all I can relate to you is what has worked for me and my observations over the years. What works for me, isn’t going to be a sure thing for every woman.

Women are complicated, complex and confusing creatures… and like snowflakes, no two are alike. They will rarely tell you the truth, even though they think they want to… and, then they will change their mind.

You need to not be so afraid of the dreaded fucking C-word…COMMUNICATION. Talk to her. Ask her what her fantasies are – and be prepared to fulfill them.  Make it about her. It’s give and take. You WANT something, be willing to GIVE as well. Don’t think with your fucking dicks.

KNOW that if you try something once, it might not be all either one of you expected. It might be a disappointment. DISCUSS it. Before, during and AFTER. <—-this is SO important. It’s okay if something doesn’t work out, know that this is a possiblity. Be understanding and caring, don’t assign guilt or blame. Remain calm and heartfelt during your discussions. Feelings are not right or wrong.

PAY ATTENTION to this: If she doesn’t want to do something, hounding her and repeatedly bringing it up will guarantee you will NEVER get to do it. THIS is the truth.

As I always say on my Sirius/XM radio show, if u need a good conversation opener, try this: “oh my god honey…I had the most bizarre and hot dream last night…  “___(describe dream here)___” and you…you were stunning and beautiful and in the dream u were so into it and I was hard as as a rock…. it was crazy! *pause and look embarrassed* …what do you think of that?” At least you will have opened the lines of communication. Otherwise, especially without knowing you both, it’s impossible to even answer this question…. I wish there was a secret answer. But there isn’t. Communication. Communication. Communication.

….Now, men, reread this several times….thinking about each part. Then go read it all again.

Thank you.

PS. Feel free to comment here and I may be able to elaborate more…I make no promises. My radio show is on Sirius/XM103 every Sat and Sun from 4-8pm PST. 1-800-SPICE88. For a free trial go to www.sirius.com/freetrial

Porn is the New Punk – (written by Danny Wylde)

Note: A random tweet alerted me to this story. It is written by porn performer Danny Wylde for www.smittenkittenonline.com. I have known Danny for several years, even directed him in a few scenes. Occasionally, I read his blog and am always impressed. Whilst he comes across as a quiet individual in person, Danny is anything but quiet in his writing. His words are cutting, truthful and well researched. He weilds them with an honest and heartfelt passion dished out with a don’t-fuck-with-me fashion. Danny’s blogs are interesting and humourous as well, creating amazing combination in a world where few people, let alone porn performers, have the talent, the initiative or take the time to have opinions, let alone write them down.

Praise for Danny aside for a moment, I get hundreds of questions daily; from Twitter, Facebook, email, calls to my Sirius radio show, etc. from people wanting to get into the business, asking questions about the business, people expressing their enjoyment of my work. People asking about recent events such as how HIV scares and tube sites affect our industry, and often, individuals who believe – honestly believe – that porn performers do well enough financially to live in mansions and own Lamborghinis. The misconceptions people have about porn are astounding.

Whether you are a fan of porn or just have a passing interest, I implore everyone to take the time to read Danny’s article on the current state of the porn industry.

In an effort to get you sucked into Danny’s article I have included the first few paragraphs and provided the link for the remainder of the story, which can be found in it’s entirety on www.smittenkittenonline.com.

Danny’s blog is http://trvewestcoastfiction.blogspot.com.

Porn is the New Punk

Old, accessible, and barely relevant; or fierce, bold, and inherently activist. Could it be both?

Like the breed of aging musicians who used to be cutting edge, the giants of pornography are living off the past.

First, the stuff was dangerous – illegal even. Before the 1987 case of California vs Freeman, porn was in the same lawless league as prostitution. Then the California Supreme Court decided it fell under the First Amendment right to free speech. So porn became legitimate, and then it became profitable.

Now it’s everywhere. The kids who grew up with digital music and video games now watch porn. So do their parents, teachers, politicians, and religious leaders. It makes headlines when someone gets caught, but the rest of the time it streams unmentioned through tube sites, torrents, and the occasional paid web service.

People must still buy the stuff because I keep getting paid to perform in it. But the amount on my check keeps dwindling. And it’s not too hard to read the panic on my friends’ faces when their work all but dries up.

Porn’s a dying monster. It’s lost the financial weight it once had to throw around. Piracy and over-saturation have nearly burned it out. But the behemoth keeps limping along, and young men and women keep standing behind it – waiting in line to get fucked.

The problem now is that it’s barely worth it. Sure, most anyone can seek out an opportunity to shed their clothes on camera. And afterward, the paycheck may look nice. But wait a few months and there’s no guarantee for a new performer to call sex a full-time job.

On the surface, the only thing porn and punk have in common is that you can follow each with, “is dead.” The proof of punk’s demise is there’s no longer anything at stake. Sling a guitar over your shoulder and wear a Mohawk, and some Beverly Hills mom will probably think you’re cute. The difference with porn is it’s a double-edged sword. Fuck on camera and your family might disown you, you’ll be called a whore in mainstream media and victim in the annals of anti-porn feminism, you’ll forgo ever having a career with kids or in politics, and – depending on where you live – you might even be arrested.

So despite the most mundane, selfish, or superficial of motivations, I’d like to make the case that every contemporary performer who makes a conscious decision to appear in a porn film is way more “punk rock” than some guy/girl in a band…
