Since 9/11 over 1.8 MILLION military personnel have been deployed to the Middle East. In the next year over 40,000 troops will be returning home to the US. It is estimated that 1 in 5 of those soldiers will be brining their experience (and often multiple experiences) home in the form of PTSD.

PTSD can manifest in many ways; depression, withdrawl, insomnia, isolation, intense nightmares, anger, violence, increased drug/alcohol use and increased risk of suicide. With thousands of soldiers coming home there is an increased need to provide access to mental health care so that these brave men and women don’t fall victim to the effects of PTSD due to an overloaded system.

As a yoga teacher and certified yoga therapist, Mischa has recently been inspired to train specifically to work with this population. Some of the top research done at the Justice Resource Institute’s Trauma Center is “establishing empirically that yoga may be helpful for people with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). A groundbreaking study conducted in 2004 showed that yoga practice actually changes core physiology related to PTSD” To see this paper, click here: http://www.traumacenter.org/clients/..\products\pdf_files\IJYT_article_2009.pdf

The program they have developed is one of the most specific available and they are offering their next 40-hour Trauma-Sensitive Yoga Training in April at Kripalu Center in Lennox, MA. http://www.kripalu.org/program/view/yogamed/TSYT-121/
So, we are asking for your help to send her to this training!

Donate any amount you wish – $5, $10, $100 – For every $20 raised toward her training, one soldier will receive PTSD specific yoga with Mischa at no cost for 1 year!

If you prefer to donate through PayPal or if you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to email her at mischalenore@gmail.com or contact her through her website www.yogawithmischa.com

Thank you, in advance, for your generosity & once again here is the donation page: http://www.gofundme.com/MischaPTSDTrainingFund

  1. I want to thank you for posting this. I am a veteran of the first Gulf War of 1991 and suffer from PTSD amongst other things. What your friend is doing is a good thing. I wish more people were as thoughtful as she is and of course you as well for bringing her good work to us.
